Satan Roams

      The heat of the day caused me to recline inside "A Friendly Shade" today.  During this relaxing time, I took a few moments to review the past Sunday morning sermon.  It was taken from Ephesians with the topic of "We have an Enemy".  The pastor led us through the steps of empowerment to protect us from the evil one.  In Ephesians we are told to take on the full armor of God.  Below is my simple review:
   Satan Roams

 Satan roams about waiting to devour,
seeking the weakened in their lowly hour.
Living in, living about,
look to the hand of the Lord, reaching out.
Put on the armor of the Lord,
seeking truth through His holy Word.
Satan roams desiring to destroy,
to empty the heart of abundant joy.
Tempted, tested, and full of doubt,
do not, the Spirit, be without.
Satan roams the parched and weary soil;
Heavenly life he wants to foil,
looking for those he can control,
destroying the heart, the very soul.
Put on the breastplate of righteousness,
seeking God in daily consciousness.
Living in, living out, Satan tempts the flesh,
but God is there to guide and refresh.
The enemy roams.  He sees the easy prey,
but God will protect.  Just pray!
With the whole heart, seek the Lord,
taking up His truth, the Spirit, and His sword.
Against wickedness in the land,
God will help you to firmly stand.

Father's Day

     Father's Day is everyday.
     It's about the Father!
     It's about the Father's love!
     As the Father's child I remain human, weak, and sinful;
     Yet, I am loved no less.
     I am not as good as others, not as talented as others;
     Yet, I am loved no less.
     My Father fills my need.
     He sent His only Son to die and give me grace.
     He sent the Holy Spirit to fill my soul; to lead, guide, and teach.
     Life's instructions are set in His Word;
     He presents the way to live to be free from bondage;
     His discipline strengthens.
     His love is felt;
     Found through the peace within my heart and mind.
     My Father daily walks and talks with me.
     He embraces me for just who I am,
     For He created me.
     I believe in the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost!
     Oh yes, everyday is Father's Day;
     It's about the Father's love!

  Romans 5:5   "And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us."

The Old Old Story

     Most of us know the wonderful written Old, Old Story of Jesus and His love, but so often, in the course of daily life we forget the amazing things He has done for us and is continuing to do for us daily.  We grumble and complain although we have so much to be thankful for.  When I think of how much I complain, I can't help but remember how the Israelites did the same.  Although God was with them and leading them daily, they grumbled.

There is an old, old story
about continued worry;
all the people's groaning
and forgotten blood's atoning.

There is an old continuing story
of forgotten promised glory;
all the people's whining,
moaning, and pining;
A forgotten death on Calvary's cross
a love to still the pain of loss.

What a feat to remember the old, old story
of a Savior who came from glory;
of a victory in death
as He took His final breath.
