The definition of life (on earth) is the existence of...it is the capacity for growth, reproduction, functional activity, and continual change preceding death.
We are given life on earth by God for a purpose. So, let's break down a few Godly elements about life according to the above definition:
Growth...comes through the reading of the book of life. The Bible writings are inspired by God for our growth in the knowledge of Him.
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:17-17
"You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me." John 5:39
Reproduction...We reproduce Godly people by continuing to share God's message and the saving knowledge of Jesus, God's Son.

Functional activity...is meant for good. Doing good deeds, loving others, and seeking God and His ways in all our activities.

Continual change...comes about by staying in God's Word in order to learn more about God and grow in perseverance and godliness as we continually seek God in every avenue.
"His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge, and to knowledge, self-control, and to self-control, perseverance, and to perseverance, godliness, and to godliness, mutual affection, and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1:3-8
