I Rather Have Jesus

Below are lyrics to a song by Rhea Miller which I sing a lot in church as I was growing up. This song holds so much meaning for Jesus is who I need. He fills my heart. He gives me joy. He is my all. Without Him, I am lost. Nothing satisfies my empty longing except Jesus. Jesus fills!

… I'd rather have Jesus than silver or gold
I'd rather be His than have riches untold
I'd rather have Jesus than houses or land
I'd rather be led by His nail-pierced hand

… Than to be the king of a vast domain
And be held in sin's dread sway
I'd rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today

… I'd rather have Jesus than worldly applause
I'd rather be faithful to His dear cause
I'd rather have Jesus than worldwide fame
Yes, I'd rather be true to His holy name

… Than to be the king of a vast domain
And be held in sin's dread sway
I'd rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today

I thought the following scriptures also tell more on the filling of the heart:

Psalm 42:1-2a, “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.”

Psalm 62:1, “Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him.”
