The Example

I have often followed the example set by my parents and even that of my friends, but I desire most to follow the example set by my Savior. Jesus set many examples, like: 

 

Jesus went about His Father’s business. 

     “And He said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? Wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business.” Luke 2:49 KJV      

 

Jesus desired to do His Father’s will.

     “Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me; nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” Luke 22:42 KJV 

 

Jesus loved to teach and heal.

     “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.” Matthew 4:23 

 

Jesus did not desire earthly possessions.

     “And He said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece.”  Luke 9:3 

 

Jesus had a work in winning souls.

     “And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43 

 

Jesus set an example in prayer.

     “And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeded down, and prayed.”  Luke 22:41 KJV 

 

Jesus gave examples on how to love.

     “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy,’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Matthew 5:43-44 

 

Jesus set an example on forgiveness.

     “And when he saw their faith, He said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.” Luke 5:20

 

Jesus set an example in leadership.

     “Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.” Mark 9:35 NIV 

 

Jesus set an example on peace-keeping.

     “But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.”  Matthew 5:39

 

Jesus demonstrated the utmost example of obedience, love, and humility- AND HE DID IT FOR ME! 

     “And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death – even death on a cross!”  Philippians 2:8 

 

I would do good to follow the examples established by Jesus!
