Keep On Praying

In the Daily Hope devotional, the author talks about praying in the Spirit at all times because we always get answered prayers; however, not in the way we often want. He gave four ways we get answers and explained them as “No-Grow-Slow-and Go.” I decided to take these thoughts and form them into a form of poetry. Here goes: 

  

Keep On Praying 

I prayed today,

But God said, “No!

That I will not do,

For it’s not the best for you.”

 

I prayed again,

But God repeated, “No!

I want for you to grow.

Be patient, still pray;

Make Me your pursuit, every day.

 

I prayed once more,

And heard, “No! Grow!

Just take it slow.

It’s coming but not here yet.

In time you will get.”

 

I continued in my prayer

Until God said, “GO!

Today, it is not ‘no,’

Or ‘grow’ or take it ‘slow’.

It’s ‘Go!’ and show My glory

Within your story.”

Negative Words

Yesterday, I made note of being positive, yet keeping God’s will in the equation. Today I will take a stab at the negative. There are certain  words beginning with "n" we should be cautious using which imply the negative. Some are: Not, No, Never, Nope, Nothing. Of course, we never want to say no to God. Never, ever!  God does not wish that we say, “Nope! No way!” to His requests.

    I have to take note of one plus when using the negative “n” words. There is a song I love to hear and the lyrics are something like this: 

         No, never alone,

         No, never alone;

         He promised never to leave me,

         Never to leave me alone.

         

Saying "No"!

     How often does a parent catch themselves saying, "No!" to their children?  We do it for their own good, often to protect them from harm.  As our children grow older, we continue to say "No" to their requests when we consider it to be a harmful situation.  Our children don't like it any more than we like the fact that God sometimes says "NO" to our prayers, desires, and wishes, as well. 
     What I have to remind myself daily is that God is all-knowing.  He has the insight to know what is best for me now and in the future.  He will answer my prayers according to His will.  It is up to Him to give me the blessings I desire in due season within His timing.   
     Thank you God for looking out for me, for protecting me, and for guiding me into your plan for my life.
