Small but Big!

I read three devotionals this morning. One talked about being a light- a flicker or one that lights up a room. It talked about how even a small flame is strong enough to brighten a room. The second was about using our God-given gifts no matter how small and being responsible for making the best use of them. The third talked about when “little is much.” It gave the example of the widow who gave two mites.

Each of these three devotionals seemed to blend into one thought for me. I first thought of the song taught young children. “This little light of mine. I’m gonna let it shine. Hide it under a bushel? No!”

It only takes a simple, gifted smile to light up a room. Even if it is just a tiny flicker, let it shine! It could be just the thing needed to light up a heart. It may be “little but big” to someone else. It might only take a pie taken to a lonely person to light up their life. It might be a kind word to a disgruntled person which changes his heart. It could be laughter instead of anger that makes the difference.

My gifts may be small, but they can become Big!

Why? and For?

Two devotionals I read last week presented different ideas; however, I thought they blended together pretty well to form one viewpoint.

I picked up on a verse in one from Isaiah 64:8, “But now, O Lord, You are our (my) Father. We (I) am the clay, and You our (my) Potter; And all of us (I) are the work of Your hand.”

The other devotional talked about different worldviews and why one matters, pointing toward Colossians 1:16, “For everything, absolutely everything, (me) above and below, visible and invisible…everything (me) got started in Him and finds its (my) purpose in Him.”  The author summed it up as:

“You (I) were made by God

and FOR God”

So? Whatever! 365 Laughs and Devotional

Sometimes I get just a little silly in my more "creative writing," like the one dated August 25th in my devotional book, So? Whatever- 365 Laughs and Devotionals.

A couple was having a discussion on what to do now that they were on their honeymoon.  The man wanted to be boss and said, "If it had not been for my money, we would not be here."  To which the wife replied, "Honey, if it had not been for your money we would not even be a WE."

What makes a "We?"
It's companionship as all will agree.
Who makes a "We?"
It's Jesus in the heart of she and thee.
How can I become a "We?"
Ask the Lord to come in with a plea.
How did He provide a "We?"
He shed his blood for you and me.
What discussions can be had as a "We?"
Simply bow and fall upon your knee.
Will happiness abound, united as a "We?"
No greater blessing, no greater glee.

Psalm 55:13  "But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend."
