Prince Charming

I was raised with Prince Charming stories; those who came to rescue the damsel in distress like, Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel, and many more. I enjoyed reading all the fairy-tales.

     I was also raised with the Biblical story of Ruth. She was a damsel in distress. She left her hometown to care for her mother-in-law, Naomi. They both had lost their husbands and were in need. Boaz was the Prince Charming who came to their rescue.

      There is a joke that asks, “What kind of man was Boaz before he got married? The answer was Ruth-less. 

     Actually, Boaz was a good guy. He was prosperous, kind and generous. He saw the need of the two women and provided. He also came to love Ruth and, as in the fairy-tales of old, they married and lived happily ever-after. However, this was no fairytale; it is a true-life story. Truth be told, Boaz was probably not a prince-charming to the full degree. He was just a man, like us, enduring but, yet, holding true to the promises of God. 

     The Bible was given to us as true-life events. It was given to show mankind how to live and who to look to for guidance, love, and direction. The writings are inspired to show how to be rescued. How to obtain our true needs. How to be saved and be able to live forever with the King on High. The true Prince is Jesus, who is the only begotten Son of God. 

     I believe in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. I believe in the death of Jesus on the cross to save anyone who will believe. And, I believe I will be rescued; taken up to live with God and His Son happily forevermore. 

 

     “For God so love the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”  John 3:16 KJV

     

The Prince

Growing up, I enjoyed fairy tale stories. They usually started with “Once Upon A Time…”  This morning, I decided to create my own story placing myself as the main character and comparing it with the real Prince of Peace. 

 

Once upon a time, I was a Prince. From the beginning of my days, I was constantly beside my father. We did everything together, hand-in-hand. My home was elaborate and beautiful. All my needs and much more were provided. I was well protected and did not have to live among people who lied, cheated, murdered, and stole.

     Then one day, my father said, “My son, I want you to set aside your crown, riches, and princely ways and go out from this protected home and environment to live among those evil people you watch, from upon this hill, every day. I want you to go out, meet them, and teach them the right way to live.”

      “What! No way!” was my response. “I am not giving up my wealth. Have you lost your mind?” was my final question.

     My father just looked at me with firmness and pushed me out the door. 

     I stood there crying, feeling abandoned. What just happened? I did not want to live with these evil, disobedient people. I wanted my luxury. They surely would not listen to what I had to tell them. I was feeling…well, really, I did not know all my feelings or emotions. My father had just told me to do something I had no desire to do. I thought my father had completely lost his mind, and I would just sit on his doorstep and cry, groan, and disobey his instructions until he decided he was wrong or until a beautiful Princess came along to rescue me. 

     I could continue this story and make up some “happy ending” but I am just one of those sinful people who the true Prince of Peace came willingly to rescue. 

     The true Prince of Peace, Jesus, lovingly obeyed His Father. He left his home and Father willingly. He came bringing love to those doing wrong. He walked among the people and provided healing and teaching.  

     If my father had said, “Now it is time. Get upon that cross and let people hammer nails into your hands to save these wretched people,” I would have said “No!” 

     Jesus did not say “No!” He did it of His own free will. He did the will of His Father, and by doing so, I am saved!

     

 

Holy, Holy, Holy!

“Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain…For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” 

God’s love for me is so great He gave me a pathway to eternal life, so why would I ever think to use His name in vain but rather to praise and uplift His Holy name!

My Lord,

I uplift your Holy name;

Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, 

You’re the same.

Holy, Holy, Holy are You!

Almighty through and through.

You are “I Am”, 

“He That Is”; 

Yahweh-

The God to whom I pray!

You are the God who sees all: 

El Shaddai-

The One who lives on high;

The God whom I trust;

The God who is just.

You are the Prince of Peace

Whose power will never cease.

You are Alpha and Omega-

The Beginning and the End-

You are my Friend!

Pray for Peace

     Reba McIntyre has just come out with a new song, “Pray for Peace.”  This song, to me, is a true out-crying for peace around the world and peace within each heart.  The song asks for prayers for our mothers, fathers, children, brothers, sisters, and for ourselves.  It calls for prayers for wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. 

     In the midst of the continuing war and beheading of those who proclaim the name of Jesus in a foreign land, we need a worldly circle of people united in prayer.  In the midst of the falling away of families, the legalization and changing of biblical principles away from marriage of one man and one woman, and the killing of unborn infants we need a worldly circle of people united praying to the One who is all powerful and the One who can intercede for us.  We need leaders with discernment, wisdom, and a heart for the people.  We need a worldly circle of people praying to the Prince of Peace. 

     We, here in the heartland of America and around the world, whether in a mission battle or war need, in addition to prayer, preparation.  How do we prepare?  Paul, who himself, is in prison, writes to the saints in Ephesus and tells us.   We are to put on the full armor of God. 
     Envision that armor for a moment:    *
  1.  To help us stand firm we don the “belt of truth.” 
  2.  We put on the “breastplate of righteousness” and
  3.   “fit our feet with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” 
  4.  We then take up the “shield of faith which can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.”  
  5.  On our head we “take on the helmet of salvation” and
  6.  in our hand we take up “the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

     Before and after putting on the armor of God we are to “pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and request.  With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying…”

One Cross Can Change Your Life

     “One Shoe Can Change Your Life,”  is a slogan that, I am sure, refers to the well-known Cinderella fairytale; whereby, she finds her Prince after he returns her glass slipper, and they live happily ever-after.
      I grew up having that story read to me many times.  It was strictly a fairytale, but like all young girls, I held to the dream of finding my very own prince charming.    Little did I realize that He would come in the form of a lowly young man who traveled the country and actually had no place He could call home.  Many, in His day, thought He was beneath them.  They called Him a liar, a fraud, and even claimed He often broke the law.  He was treated cruelly.  He was spit upon, beaten, shamed, and even nailed to a cross.  However, this man became the Prince of Peace, the Savior of the world, and through Him I will live happily ever after. 
     Because of my belief in the only Begotten Son of God, one day I will live in a great city filled with jewels of all kind; jasper, pearls, emeralds, and I will walk on streets of pure gold.  My world will be filled with light created through the glory of God and the presence of the Prince, the Lamb of God. 
     No matter how poor or how badly your earthly circumstances are, there is a Prince charming who has already paid the price to provide believers a way to live happily ever-after.  He can supply all the riches that are of importance.  All you have to do is believe in Jesus for  “One Cross Can Change Your Life.”

     Revelation 21:    10 “And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 Having the glory of God: and the light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; ...19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones.  The first foundation was jasper, the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony, the fourth, an emerald;  20 the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz, the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth, the twelfth, an amethyst.  21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass. ... 23  And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.”
