A Work in Nature

There are many scriptures about nature. I have quoted a few and used them to assist in writing the following: 

 

A Work in Nature 

 

God counted and named the stars,

And He knows my memoirs.

He knows every bird and insect in the field,

And He know the deeds, I yield.

God clothe the flowers,

And He knows my remaining minutes and hours.

So, as the deer pants to quinch its thirst,

May I, too, pant for the Living Water, placing God first.

Like the tree planted by water’s edge,

May I be made strong by God with His protective hedge.

Like the fig tree’s tender twigs announcing summer’s beginning,

Let me announce my Christian life within my living.

As the eagle soars up in the sky so high,

May I soar, run and not be weary, as with God, I draw nigh.

Like the ant,

May I endure and not be faint.

Consider the strength of the lion and how hard it is to control,

Let me, for God,  be so bold.

He counted the stars and knows their name,

And He knows mine too, even in my shame.

God knows the name of all in His creation

So, in my summation,

The heavens, creatures, and all the things He made

Declare His glory, and it will not fade.

Whet The Appetite

     I was surprised this morning when I opened my back door to see several deer still feeding on corn which had been sprinkled on the the ground.  Usually any small noise or sound of the squeaky door hinges will cause the deer to spring into action and jump quickly out of sight.   But not this morning.  They were too concerned with whetting their appetites to worry about anyone watching.
     I paused to consider how concerned I am when I am feeding my sin appetite to stop and think about who may be watching and what effect that may have on them.

Luke 17:1  "Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come. "

Black and White

     Through the power of the internet and the camera,  we have opportunities to view many wonders.  Some are magnificent man-made works of art but none of them compare with the breath-taking natural wonders created by God.   If the camera catches God's creations at just the right moment we gasp at the way the light streams through the woodlands, the way lightning explodes beneath the clouds, the flight of a new-born baby bird, the way a rainbow forms a half circle of colors across the sky and reflects into a lake below, the way a waterfall flows over and across the cliffs to a river below,  just to name only a few. 
     Nothing in nature is completely predicable. In other words, it is not all “black and white”, however I would like to share some fascinating and rare black and white works of nature. The squirrel pictures were taken in the Magnolia area.  Although I have heard of sightings of white deer in or near Stephens, the one here is a recent snapshot from a friend of a friend who lives in Tennessee.

      Sitting in “A Friendly Shade,” I have to admire photographers who are creative enough to catch these natural wonders and pass them on for others to enjoy.   Rare visions occurring in nature remind me of Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God.”
