Fork in the Road

“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” Matthew 7:13-14

     My sense of direction has always been lacking. I do not know how I ever traveled without the modern-day GPS; however, even the GPS can get it wrong. When I come to a fork in the road, my best GPS is patience to know God’s direction.

Cell Phone

Occasionally, I will forget and leave home without my cell phone. When I do, I feel lost, for with all the apps, it has replaced my way of communication, my calendar, watch, alarm clock, Bible, dictionary, flash light, GPS, and many more I could name. However, I never ever, ever leave home without God. I can communicate with Him whenever and wherever. I need no hand-held device, and He is not replaceable! 

"Your have enclosed me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me. Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your Presence?" Psalm 139:5,7 

Maps

I was just thinking about maps. I remember a time when I had to pull over to the side of the road and study the map to find my way when I had gotten lost and taken the wrong turn. Maps have mostly gone by the wayside. Do they even make them anymore? 

     With GPS, maps are no longer needed. Although the GPS will sometimes take me the long way around, it will usually get me to my destination if I don’t argue with it which I have done quite a few times. 

    I am actually pretty good at disagreeing with the GPS and just as good at disagreeing with the roadmap of life. My travels would be so much easier if I pulled over to the side of the road more often, studied, and actually followed God’s directions without arguing and taking wrong turns. I would get to my desired destination so much quicker with less stress. His map is always the best map!
