Born Holy but Lowly

      We get excited about Christmas when December rolls around.  There is all kinds of glitter,  lights, and merriment.  However, there would be no Christmas without Jesus. Everyone expected a King, and He is One, but He was born lowly.  Not as expected.

Born Holy but Lowly

Glory, glory, glory!
The scriptures tell the story.
A child is born,
Only to be scorned.
A Savior has come,
But cursed by some.
The Angels sing,
“Behold, the King!”
Born lowly
But holy.
Holy, holy, holy!
Born is Christ,
Come to be a sacrifice.

Worldly Misconceptions

     What is it about appealing to what people think others want to see, hear, and read rather than applying the Words of God that would make this world such a better place?
     During the big Super Bowl, one of the main events was the half time entertainment.  True, some enjoyed it a lot, but then some did not; they could see through what the world wanted us to see.  Here was an event that portrayed women as sex symbols.  There were children present and watching this so called attraction.  Was this sometime children should watch? What impression was it making?
     Reading through a book that was quiet interesting plot-wise another unnecessary occurrence  sprang up to lessen the enjoyment of the reading.  It seemed the author was quiet fond of placing God's name into the language of the characters.  This was not done on just a page or two but on almost every other page.  I began to black out God's name which was used vainly and found the reading was much improved.  There had certainly been no need to use God's name or the name of Jesus and of Christ in profane language.
     Jesus died for me.  He is my Savior and Christ.  His name is holy!  God is my Creator, Father, and Power over all the earth.  His name is holy!
     I am saddened that the world has gotten so far away from righteous living and thinking.  If I am saddened can you imagine what God is thinking and feeling about His children?

HIS NAME

     One of the Ten Commandments is not to take the Lord’s name in vain.  There are so many more scriptures in the Bible that tell us to honor God’s name.  Psalms 111:9 tells us  “…holy and reverend is his name.”  In the example of the Lord’s prayer, it starts off as “Hallowed be your name.”   Yet so many Christians use God’s name either as a swear word or just plain cussing.  The tongue can be a powerful weapon and can show dishonor in so many ways when we use God’s name inappropriately.  Not only can our words either lift God up or tear down our ministry for Him, but it also can affect how we build our own homes.
     The will of God is to be honored and praised.  Matthew 7:24, “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock.

HIS NAME

The heavens declare His glory!
In a loud voice the angels announce, “Behold the Lamb!”
What a story!
Power, praise, and honor are given by His name.
To lift Him up should be our aim.

Father, Son, and Holy Ghost-
The Creator, Savior, Living Spirit- giving life upmost;
To use His name in vain
After so much gain!
Your name, Oh Lord, your name-
To hear it used in vain should set your people aflame.

The sweet, sweet name of Jesus,
A man who died for us;
To use your name in vain
After your blood, your death, your pain;
The Son, Jesus, our Savior’s precious name-
Used in vain? Oh, what a shame!

 The holy name of God-
Our Father, Maker of all, the Creator!
Who in all the world is greater?
To violate His name?
The One who sent His only Son, to die He came –

The Trinty, Three in One-
Father, Holy Ghost, and Son.
Why, oh why use their name in vain?
What good?  What gain?

 Rather, declare as do the angels-
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty”
   Giver of grace, let us honor thee.

Holy, Holy, Holy! Prayer

I posted a praise to my Lord yesterday, and as I sat in "A Friendly Shade," I decided today to make a revision to use it as a prayer to praise God.   So often all we do is "ask" and forget to praise our God from whom all blessings flow.

Holy, Holy, Holy!
Is my Lord in all your glory.
You are my Lord of Hosts;
Let me praise you uppermost.
You are my Lord in all your majesty;
My King who sits upon the throne;
Let me worship you and you alone.

Holy, Holy, Holy!
Is my Lord in all your beauty.
You are my guiding light;
Let me sing your praises day and night.
You are the King of Kings;
My Lord who reigns on High;
Let me honor you, not I.

Holy, Holy, Holy!
Is my Lord in all your righteousness.
You are my Shepherd and my Lamb;
Let me praise you for what I have and who I am.
You are my Lord, the Lamb of Life;
The One to whom none can compare.
Let me lift your name in prayer.

Holy, Holy, Holy!
Your glory fills the land.
Amen!

Holy, Holy, Holy!

     In the silence of "A Friendly Shade,"  I could not help but think about our church service today and how the pastor described the Lord.  I agree with him.  There is no way we can describe Holy.  As the pastor stated, "It would be a failure to even attempt to do that.  God is indefinable!"  All I can do is to give Him as much praise as I can for the three descriptive words the pastor used today.  God is glorious in Holiness, Beauty, and Righteousness.   Below is my failure to give Him the praise He deserves.

Holy, Holy, Holy!
Is my Lord in all His glory.
He is the Lord of Hosts;
Let me praise him uppermost.
He is the Lord in all His majesty;
The King who sits upon the throne;
Let me worship Him and Him alone.

Holy, Holy, Holy!
Is the Lord in all His beauty.
He is my guiding light;
Let me sing His praises day and night.
He is the King of Kings;
The Lord who reigns on High;
Let me honor Him, not I.

Holy, Holy, Holy!
Is my Lord in all his righteousness.
He is the Shepherd and the Lamb;
Let me praise Him for who I am.
He is my Lord, the Lamb of Life;
The One to whom none can compare.
Let me lift His name in prayer.

Holy, Holy, Holy!
His glory fills the land.
