Christmas Hassle

Christmas Hassle

It seems like only yesterday I was storing away my Christmas tree,

And, now putting it back in its place with a happy, cheerful glee.

As I began to decorate, I found some garland had begun to shed.

I used it anyway, for to buy new I would really dread.

Some of my Christmas balls have gotten broken through the years,

But I re-fluffed a spot or two, not letting it bring me to tears.

A Santa pillow had gotten a little frayed,

But it can be patched with just a little aid.

Christmas is a time for joy and delight

Not for struggling with a spending plight

Or making the budget tight.

Christmas is to enjoy the Savior’s birth;

Let the home be filled with laughter and mirth.

It’s not for stressing through the Holiday season,

But for Jesus, who is the reason!

Christmas is a time to reflect upon the Cross;

More so than decking the table with dressing, and cranberry sauce.

Christmas is a time for Jesus;

A time to praise Him for loving us!

It’s not a time for hurry and stress

But, rather, a time to know we are blessed.

It’s a time to envision the wise men seeking the new-born child,

Although it took a while.

Christmas is not, so much, presents under the tree

But worshiping Jesus, who was born to die and set us free.

Abortion

     My heart weighs heavy for the unborn child.  I have never been raped or left as a single, pregnant woman and been faced with decisions to make regarding an unborn child, but I do know there are families throughout America who would love to adopt a child.  What is being talked about regarding abortions today, right up to birth, is simple murder.  These babies were created by God, and they need a chance at life.  Psalm 127:3  "Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord; and the fruit of the womb is His reward."
     In honor of the unborn child, I put together the following:

                     Abortion
In the beginning, you knew me Lord;
How I was yet unborn, even though you knew I would not live to face the morn.
You, oh Lord, designed me special as your very own vessel;
Every eyelash, every finger, every toe, every vein in which my blood would flow.
You designed me in every way, though you knew I would not live to face the day.
I never lived to play, or to fulfill your holy plan, for my life was taken through wickedness of man.
In silence, I screamed in my plight; was bloodied in my innocent fight.
From my own momma's womb, I was defenseless against my doom within the walls of an abortion room.
I struggled and sought to cry, wondering, "Why?"
My own mother's womb would mark my doom.
Where I had felt warm and protected, pain seared through my tiny person, and my condition began to worsen.
I was ripped from the womb, limb by tiny fragile limb;
Never to see the light as all went dim;
Never to breathe or teethe;
Never to cry or blink an eye;
Never to play or pray;
Never to be loved, to love, or stare at the stars above;
Never to fail, succeed, or live for a story to tell.
Through wickedness of man, I never will or never can.
My life was taken before it began.
But you, oh Lord, knew me before I was born; and I will awaken to you in the morn.

Who Can Stop The Lord?

Who Can Stop The Lord?

King of Kings!  Lord of Lords!
He comes with crown and sword.
Who can stop Him?
For He comes, we know not when.
From death to life, He arose! He lives!
He forgives!
King of Kings, robed in glory.
He comes to take His children home;
His foes to purgatory.
The time - the hour - we're not told;
The Alpha, the Omega; His grace manifold.
King of Kings, Lord of all!
Who can stop His glorious call?
Every eye shall see; each in his own crowd
As He cometh in the cloud.
Who can stop His return?
All will watch as the clouds unfold and churn.
The Alpha and Omega; the Beginning and the End;
He comes to save and end our sin.
In a blink;
No time to think!
Alleluia!  No one can stop the Lamb of God,
Coming with mercy in His rod.
He died; He lives!  He comes again
To gather His children;
the poor, the rich, the downtrodden, the plain.
He comes to honor His Word.
No one can stop my Lord.
He comes to carry His children to Heavenly Sod;
This majestic Son of God!

My Shining Knight

     David was a man "after God's own heart," yet he had flaws.  However, God loved him still, and continued to be with David, giving him victory throughout the battles and wars being fought.  David acknowledged God's mighty hand in his life when he wrote his song of praise to the Lord in 2 Samuel 22.  May we all acknowledge God's hand in our life.  The following is my praise for today.

      My Shining Knight!

The Lord is the rock of all,
My support, my solid wall.
He is my shield, the power who saves me
from troubles as deep as the spacious sea.
At the blast of His breathe and voice,
Let me rejoice,
For He is my refuge;
My God, in whom I praise.

The heavens open at His command;
Power and force form from God's right hand.
Dark clouds roll beneath his feet;
Only He can wash my body sweet.
My Lord soars on the wings of the wind;
Blessings, sorrow -He evens the blend.
His voice resounds; the Lord thunders!
View His wonders!

The Lord is my rescuer, my strength;
Only He knows my heart, to its depth and length.
He is my light in the night;
The spring of life, my shining Knight.
He is the lamp unto my feet;
In Him, my heart rejoices with a hammering beat.

Who, but God, is my solid rock;
The Shepherd over all His flock?
Only He is worthy of praise;
Only He issues joy over my days.

The Lord is like the light in morning's sunrise,
Working miracles within mine own eyes.
He is the glistening diamond of early morning dew;
                Praise Him!  Praise Him!
For He will recue, save, and the soul renew,
Like a kiss in the night; My shining Knight!

Magnify God's Name

     It excites me when someone sends a comment to my blog site, even if it is anonymous.  It means someone is reading it.  I’m only a small, quiet voice in a big world, and I often wonder, “Why do you blog?”  The answer, today, is that it is a small way of praising God and sharing my faith in the hopes it will touch someone's life.
     Our entire motivation, in life, should be to praise the Lord and express our gratitude to Him.  God listens to every plea for answers to our daily problems and every cry for healing when our health is failing, but God wants us to praise Him.  Yet, how can we praise God enough for all the blessings He bestows?  David gives us a humble expression of gratitude and praise in 2 Samuel 7:26 when he says to God, “And let thy name be magnified for ever…”

                 Magnify God's Name

Your name is wonderful!
The name of Jesus.
The Lamb of God dining among sinners-
The One born with no crown or worldly fuss.

No other name so great-
Our Saviour, the Almighty, the Omniscient!
The promised Messiah-
The Father's own Son was sent.

Prince of Peace, the only One-
A Mighty King;
Our Lord, Maker, The Great Creator-
Coming humbly, salvation to bring.

Yahweh, Jehovah,
The Way, the Truth, the Light;
Shepherd and Protector-
Teaching, healing and giving sight.

The Peacemaker, Comforter,
The great I Am, is your name.
The Redeemer, the Rock-
Giving hope through sorrow, pain, and shame.

Christ, the Beginning and the End,
A rejected Messiah wearing a crown of thorns;
Immanuel, the Living Bread;
One spit on and scorned.

The Son! The Lamb!
In life He was slain,
King of the Jews, King of Kings;
Death, burial, and resurrection brought total gain.

Jesus Is Not Dead

     I am anxious to see the new movie entitled, God's Not Dead.   Friends have told me it is a good movie, and one even said he got right up to the ticket window and was told, "Sorry, the seats are sold out."
     With the movie, God's Not Dead, and Easter only a few weeks away, I got to thinking about my Jesus dying on the cross for me and His great Salvation plan.  I can only say that I am so blessed to have a Lord who loves me enough to allow those who hated Him to nail Him to the cross for my sins.

Jesus Is Not Dead

His wounds ran blood red!
  Skin torn and pierced-
  Body whipped-

Friends stood and wept in dread!
  Darkness fell-
  The ground shook-

Hanging on the cross, Jesus bled!
  Hope sprang forth-
  Promises fulfilled-

Lying upon His death bed!
  Angels stood nearby-
  The stone rolled away-

Word spread!
  “The tomb is empty!”
   Hearts lifted-

He arose the Living Bread!
  Lives changed-
  Brokenness healed-

In resurrection, Jesus became the Thread!
  The Way-
  The Deliverer-

He is not dead!
  Souls are saved-
  Eternal life proclaimed!

God Loves Because He is God

Have you ever pledged or committed to doing better but found yourself doing the same bad habits?  Isn't it wonderful, that as a Christian, we know we have forgiveness of sin? And that God still loves us?

God Loves Because He Is God

God does not love me because I am good;
He loves me because He is God!

I am chosen,
Although I am broken.
I am stubborn, polished with a lack of concern;
You’d think one day I’d learn.
I’m disobedient,
Stirred with selfishness, as an added ingredient.

Yet God still loves even me.
He’ll be with me around the world and across the sea.

His power sustains throughout each season.
Why? Just what is His reason?
I see His miracles across the land;
Yet I continue with what “I” have planned.
Unwilling to listen, I do as I please;
Still, He waits and silently sends the gentle breeze.

God does not love me because I’m good.
He loves me because He is God!
I feel His mercy and His grace.
I feel His mighty embrace.
I love His compassion and protection;
Hopefully, someday I’ll follow His direction.
No matter my weakness,
No matter my lack of meekness,
No matter my behavior;
He remains my faithful Saviour.

God does not love me because I’m good.
He loves me because He is God!

He Comes!

I am so glad that God is everywhere! I can talk with Him at any time and His presence is here in "A Friendly Shade." For this reason I wrote the following:

Behold He comes,
 Singing in my heart,
 Rejoicing as the day does start;
 Preparing me,
 Setting my smile with glee.

Behold He knocks,
  Tapping on my door,
  Guiding and going before.

Listen, and hear
  His voice resounding in the ear.

Feel the touch of His presence.
  He is near; over here and over there.
  His presence is everywhere;
  Lifting the heavy load,
  Directing along the crooked road.

Behold He loves,
  Helping through the tears;
  Forgiving, because He cares.
  He watches,
  Loving in the light;
  Holding me through the dark of night.

Behold my Lord-
He comes!

The Five Senses

     As I took shelter in "A Friendly Shade" from a light rain shower, I gasped at the beautiful array of fall colors happening in the woodlands just beyond my "Shade".  Many people travel a great distance to have their senses awakened with this mix of reds, oranges, greens, and yellows.  Stepping out just a little I took a deep breathe, inhaled the fragrance of the fresh scent from the aftermath of the rain,  and then reached out my hand to catch a drop of the lingering water drops.  The touch of the rain was ever so light on the palm of my hand, and I realized that  all I was watching, seeing, smelling, hearing, and touching is a work of art from God.   He is busy every day painting a canvas that enhances my five senses and my very being.
     Most of what I gain from my five senses is taken for granted.  I never realized that until I had a friend vist one weekend.  He arrived after dark, bringing along his young son who had never actually visited southern Arkansas, the home of many, many pines and oaks.  His first comment as he gazed out the window the following morning was, "What's with all the trees?"
     My thoughts were, "I see them every day, I smell their piney scent, I taste the pollen in their seasons, I hear them whipping about with the wind, I touch the texture of their bark."   Most importantly "God is there! He is in control of it all."

The Five Senses
Listen! You can hear Him;
In the winds of March-
In the snapping sound of snow covered limbs forming a downward arch-
In the gentle, cold wintery breeze-
In the sound of dew drops dripping through the trees-
In the crunch of fallen leaves blanketed beneath your feet;
Listen closely; His voice is quiet and discreet.

Watch! There are signs everywhere;
In the glow of an early morning dawn-
In a child’s innocent face as it wakes with a yawn-
In the array of fall colors painted upon the oaks-
In the twinkling stars added by His artful strokes-
In the clouds floating from the east, west, south, and north;
Do you see Him? His beauty shines forth.

Taste His flavor! It is so sweet;
In the kiss of peace within the heart-
In the fresh, sweet taste of fruit hand-picked from their shipping cart-
In the cool, moist spring water upon the lip-
In the honey getting sweeter with every drip-
In the spicy seasonings that enrich and flavor;
Taste it all; He hydrates with blessings for all to savor.

Take a sniff! Smell the freshness of life;
In the cleansing, aromatic whiff after a spring rain-
In the sweet sniff of field harvested sugar cane-
In the fragrant odor of honeysuckle growing wild-
In the fresh bathed scent of an infant child-
In the titillating, sneezy smell of just-mowed grass;
Smell the day; He created all of nature, first-class.

There’s magic in His touch. Love sprouts!
In the calming quiet as the Holy Spirit fills the soul-
In the warm touch of a friend sent to hug and console-
In the love of a child’s arms wrapped around the neck-
In the relaxation of a rain shower sent to keep nature in-check-
In the shivery cold, yet fireplace warmth, of a snowy day;
Feel His tender touch when you kneel to pray.

What Difference Do It Make? We Is Filling Up Space!

In "A Friendly Shade," I found myself going back to a story from Charles Stanley's In Touch devotional publication.  The story was titled "Finding Our Way Home."   At the end of the story, Denver, a homeless man said,  "Whether we is rich or poor or somethin' in between, this earth ain't no final restin' place.  So, in a way, we is all homeless - just workin' our way home."  As I reread this I was inspired to write the following:

What Difference Do It Make?
 This ‘ole world ain’t no restin’ place,
We is all working,
Filling up space.

This ‘ole world-
It’s filled with poor folks living in shacks;
The rich with nice clothes on their backs.
Whatever the case-
It ain’t no restin’ place.
We is just workin’ our way home
Looking for places to roam.

No matter the race;
We is fillin’ up space;
This ‘ole world ain’t no restin’ place.

What difference do it all make?
If we ain’t got God,
We is a driftin’ by.
It’s Him we shouldn’t deny.

Folks is a passin’ through,
And just making do.
There’s trials and troubles,
Joy and laughter,
Sadness and shame-
It don’t matter what we’re after,
Till God comes to call us by name.

This ‘ole world ain’t no restin’ place,
We is just fillin’ up space.

Holy, Holy, Holy! Prayer

I posted a praise to my Lord yesterday, and as I sat in "A Friendly Shade," I decided today to make a revision to use it as a prayer to praise God.   So often all we do is "ask" and forget to praise our God from whom all blessings flow.

Holy, Holy, Holy!
Is my Lord in all your glory.
You are my Lord of Hosts;
Let me praise you uppermost.
You are my Lord in all your majesty;
My King who sits upon the throne;
Let me worship you and you alone.

Holy, Holy, Holy!
Is my Lord in all your beauty.
You are my guiding light;
Let me sing your praises day and night.
You are the King of Kings;
My Lord who reigns on High;
Let me honor you, not I.

Holy, Holy, Holy!
Is my Lord in all your righteousness.
You are my Shepherd and my Lamb;
Let me praise you for what I have and who I am.
You are my Lord, the Lamb of Life;
The One to whom none can compare.
Let me lift your name in prayer.

Holy, Holy, Holy!
Your glory fills the land.
Amen!

Holy, Holy, Holy!

     In the silence of "A Friendly Shade,"  I could not help but think about our church service today and how the pastor described the Lord.  I agree with him.  There is no way we can describe Holy.  As the pastor stated, "It would be a failure to even attempt to do that.  God is indefinable!"  All I can do is to give Him as much praise as I can for the three descriptive words the pastor used today.  God is glorious in Holiness, Beauty, and Righteousness.   Below is my failure to give Him the praise He deserves.

Holy, Holy, Holy!
Is my Lord in all His glory.
He is the Lord of Hosts;
Let me praise him uppermost.
He is the Lord in all His majesty;
The King who sits upon the throne;
Let me worship Him and Him alone.

Holy, Holy, Holy!
Is the Lord in all His beauty.
He is my guiding light;
Let me sing His praises day and night.
He is the King of Kings;
The Lord who reigns on High;
Let me honor Him, not I.

Holy, Holy, Holy!
Is my Lord in all his righteousness.
He is the Shepherd and the Lamb;
Let me praise Him for who I am.
He is my Lord, the Lamb of Life;
The One to whom none can compare.
Let me lift His name in prayer.

Holy, Holy, Holy!
His glory fills the land.

Listen! He Comes

     As I listen intently to the thunder in "A Friendly Shade" and patiently wait for the coming rain shower I remembered that God lives everywhere.  He is with me at all times- through joy, disappointments, and hardships.  If  I will just "Stop" and listen, He is there.

He comes!
Echoing through the mountains,
rumbling through the trees
silently through the breeze.

He comes!
Roaring like a lion,
charging through the wind,
quietly in the silence of the mind.

Listen!  He comes.
Peacefully in the Spirit,
truthfully in the word,
faithfully in prayers, heard.

He comes!
Calmly giving life,
hourly giving peace,
daily giving increase.

Listen!  He comes.
Brightly through the lightening,
loudly through the thunder,
joyfully through the rainbow wonder.

He comes!
Loudly through the traffic,
zooming through the rush hour,
silently through the rain shower.

Listen!  He comes.

A Timeless God

     Our pastor talked last Sunday about how God is alive and how He is eternal, ever-lasting, and ever-present.  He also gave us several descriptions of God.  God is Holy, Glorious, Omnipotent, Authorative, and Revered.  We are to stand in awe of Him.  As I comtemplate all this in "A Friendly Shade," I decided to try to sum up my worship experience and thoughts as follows :

A TIMELESS GOD

With God there is no time.
He was here before it all began;
The world was void and without man.

 He is Alpha and the Omega;
The Beginning and the End.

He is forever, into eternity;
It is God all generations can come to know;
From Him all blessings flow.

God was alive! He is alive! He will be alive!
He has dominion,
Contrary to some’s opinion.

He created the air, the land, the universe.
God’s in charge of the seas, the wind, the sun, and the rain.
There is no escaping Him, though we may try in vain.

He is the First and the Last;
The Beginning and the End.

God is ever present!
Wherever there is life, He is there;
He’s found in the day, the night, and everywhere in the air.

God waits!  He’s patient! And does not go by the clock-of-time.
He reaches out His hand
To everyone across the land.

When the world will be no more,
There will be God loving the souls of man;
Men who have found the open door-
Those who have accepted His plan.

There is strength in this mightly God,
He is all-knowing and wise;
By His power the dead in Christ will rise.

With God there is "no time!"
He is the great, "I Am."
                                      Mary Crisp Jameson – 10/9/2013

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Genesis 1:1
 I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.  Revelation 22:13

Christ In Me

     We all suffer at times from sickness, death, accidental injury, disappointments, and other unnamed problems which seek to pull us down.  As I sit in “A Friendly Shade,” I wondered how anyone without Christ and their faith in Him can cope.  There are no words anyone can say which will give the comfort that the simple presence of God can bestow.   During hard times it is good to “stop” and be thankful for the Christ that lives within us.

               Christ In Me!

Whatever happens in life, there is hope,
For I know the One who carries me over the mountain slope.
Though troubles creep in, I have no need to fear.
My Christ is always near.

When dreams vanish and flee, all is well within my soul.
I am assured my God will keep me whole.
If I am tossed and beaten, somewhere there is an open door.
Peace comes in the night for my God goes before.

As disappointments leave me shattered and frail,
My God will lead me down another trail.
The wind may push me to and fro,
But my Christ will love and lead where e‘re I go.

Though I walk through the lion’s den, there is One who delivers me.
He knows, He loves, and He will see.
When I am in complete despair, He is there.
I find Him everywhere; within myself and in the air!

Although my world is broken down,
I look for the One who rejected a crown.
I look for the One who died for me.
I pray for the ones who have no faith; the ones who just don’t see.

When life brings a troubled sting,
I stop to remember there will be a new born spring.
For Christ is in me.  He lives, He is!
I am loved, valued, and His!

Prayer

     As I sit beneath “A Friendly Shade” today and recall the Sunday School lesson and the preaching service, in which both were on prayer, I find myself lacking in all the areas that I truly know about but have become complacent and lacking.
     First of all, I know that I need to establish a special time to be with God, a special time-appointed quiet time.  Yet, as the pastor pointed out, prayer is never-ending.  There should be no beginning and no ending.  It should be steadfast and continuous.   That, in itself, makes us more watchful for things and people we should pray about and for.  It presents an opportunity for us to be able to intercede for others.
     I have used the slogan, “Fake it till you make it,” so often in my life, but I was fascinated by another slogan given that the Puritans use.  It is, “Pray until you pray.”  This really has given me food for thought.  So often, most of us have to admit that, we go to God for answers in our lives.  We say, “We want!  When will You answer?”  How often do we pray just to be thankful, to reflect, and to be grateful for what God has already given us?

 My Prayer as I sit in “A Friendly Shade,” is:

How often, Lord, do I come to talk with you?
Let it be all though the day and down every road.
Forgive my neglect.
Let me be thankful as I reflect
On the blessings you have bestowed.

Let me rise early in the morning
With You in my thought.
Circumvent, Lord, any intrusion,
Keeping you in my mind, without exclusion.
Keep me thankful for every blessing brought.

Give me confidence to trust in thee.
Help me “pray until I pray.”
Give me courage to proclaim
Your almighty Name!
Give me faith when I see no answer right away.

Lest I forget to ‘hush and listen,’
Lest I forget to give you praise,
Humble me.
This is my earnest plea,
For you are my rock all of my days.

The Mountain Climb

     Just thinking about climbing a steep mountain scares me. The slope is steep and the terrain is treacherous and rugged.  A mountain climber has to train; he wants the best teacher available; a teacher who will help him learn the skill of safety to take on the climb.  Isn't that how life is?  We have to learn the skill of overcoming obstacles along our journey.  We need a lifeline.  We need the  best teacher available.  That teacher is God.  He is our safety harness; the One who helps us, quides us, and keeps us secure until He comes to take us home.

Climb That Mountain

 One more step,
Just a few more miles.
One of these days, I’m gonna scale that mountain.
It’s just a cliff away,
But that’ll be, another day.

One more foothold,
Just another struggle to conquer.
One of these days, I’ll reach that mountain peak.
It’s just a reach away,
But I’ll touch it, some day.

One more valley,
Just another climb.
I’ll hike that mountain in due time.
It’s just beyond my grasp,
But, one day, it will be within my clasp.

One more sunset,
One more dawn.
Someday, I’ll reach that mountain top.
For now, it’s too tall and too far away,
But there’ll come a time, one day.

One of these days,
There’ll be a trail to blaze.
The climb will be steep,
With no time to sleep.
It’s just over the bright horizon,
Something beautiful; to me unknown.

 Look up toward the mountain top!
I’m gonna climb it; I just won’t stop!
Some may past me on the way.
But I’ll get there; it’ll happen, some day!

The Lamb

     Many times in the Old Testament we read of the lamb.  The lamb that was sacrificed upon the altar was to be without spot and without blemish.  Then when we get to the New Testament, we learn that Jesus is The Lamb.  He was the sacrifice for our sins, and He was without spot and without blemish.  He chose to die for our sins.

     THE LAMB

Behold the Lamb!
I am amazed to stand before Him,
and not worthy to touch even His garment's hem.

Worthy is the Lamb,
who walked among men.
He healed the sick and the lame-
Jesus is His name.

The Light of the World is the Lamb!
He is the heart-felt presence in times of sorrow;
the One who comforts through each tomorrow.

Praise God for the Lamb,
who intercedes for all our sin,
and delivers us out of the darkness from where we’re been.

The Blood of the Lamb
was shed for you and me-
He gave it freely, never wavering or trying to flee.

Watch for the Lamb!
He will appear in the twinkling of an eye.
He is the One you should not deny.

Beware the wrath of the Lamb!
He will come on a great white horse
with a mighty force.

Behold! I am saved by the Blood of the Lamb.
Hallelujah!
My name is written in the Book of the Lamb!

Crucifixion

    My intent when I started the following poem was to write about the revival service I had just attended in which the pastor shared 2 Timothy 4 whereby the pastor is charged to to preach the Word "in season, and out of season".  Then in verse 4 the scripture goes on to say that the time will come when the people will not endure sound doctrine and will turn away their ears.   How true this is.
    We live in a time where there is a moral standard of living that does not go along with what the Bible has to say, and sinners, such as us, don't want to hear sound doctrine or to change our way of life. When we listen to what a pastor councils, according to what the Bible teaches, there is often discord with the pastor, or he simply becomes what we describe as not a very likable person.  From this, I intended to compare the crucifixion of Jesus with what the pastor often has to endure, but the words did not fall into place.  However, it would be good to remember that just as Jesus came for a purpose, the pastor is charged with a purpose.  Jesus was not liked, and, often, the pastor is not liked if he truly councils from the Living Word of Life with those who have closed ears.

     CRUCIFY HIM

Jesus came to give us life,
but the people created strife.
They shouted, “Crucify Him!”

Jesus healed the lame and raised the dead;
many followed where He led;
yet, in the end, He was denied.
Even Peter exclaimed, “I know Him not,”
before he wept and cried.

Jesus came to give us life,
but the people created strife.
They let a murderer go free
to watch our Savior being nailed to a tree.
A crown of thorns was placed upon His head;
still they mocked Him as He bled.

 “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!
He is not our King,” they said,
“He is not the Living Bread.”
And they watched as His blood was shed.

Darkness covered the land
as Jesus hung by the nails in each hand.
In agonizing pain,
He never once complained.
The people shouted, “Crucify Him!”
But our Lord pled, “Father forgive them.”

…My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?  And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.  March 15:34b, 39

A New Armor

A NEW ARMOR

 Take me out of the battlefield
I prayed and appealed!

I was shackled and worn-
Beaten and torn;
Then the sun shone through-
A light appeared as the dark sky turned to blue.

I was re-dressed-
Given a shield to cover my breast;
A new armor of protection-
A light for direction.

I was given victory in the battlefield.
Wounds were beginning to heal;
My chains of weakness disappeared.
The helmet of faith covered my head-
My weariness was quickly shed.

Take me out of the battlefield
I prayed and appealed.
“The demons are too strong to bare!”
My shout rang out, and He heard my prayer.

He set my feet on solid ground.
His mighty Book was in my hand;
A weapon polished from His word.
I was strong in battle with the sharpest sword.

Shackled and worn-
Beaten and torn;
Taken out of the battlefield,
As I had prayed and appealed.
