A Story To Tell

I am not good at telling stories, but God gave me a story to tell. It is not a fairytale, but a true event that really happened. The end sounds sad but, in reality, the ending is all about love. As I think about it, the story if not true could be made into a fairytale of how a Prince came to save me, a lowly ugly duckling, who He turned into a beautiful living soul.

A Story To Tell

Come and sit a spell

And listen to what I have to tell.

You’ll be amazed and dazed

With this story

Of a King reigning in glory.

It’s not a story where people die for the King,

Or where the people must bow and kiss his ring.

This is a story of a King coming to die for the masses;

All people -all classes.

This is a story of a King who puts His people first;

A King who comes to quinch their thirst.

The story I have to tell

Is one about heaven and hell;

One of a King coming to give his people hope;

To offer assurance as they cope.

My story is of a King who left his throne

To put the people’s good above His own.

It sounds like a fairytale

Until I get to where the people hammered the nail.

Those He came to save

Put Him in the grave,

But they could not keep Him there.

He arose to forgive, love and care.

He arose, His people’s cross, to bear.

The people He came to save hammered the nails,

But His love prevails.

The Nails and Instructions

You know, I honestly do not know why anyone that is a billionaire would want to run for President of the United States of America. There is just too much drama for me. I guess, if I were rich, I would simply relax in luxury, and that is probably why I am not wealthy.

     Regardless, as President Trump said, “I took a bullet for this country.” That being said, what is much more striking and memorable than Jesus taking the nails for me? Nothing compares to the blood pooled around His feet! Nothing compares to His sacrifice! Nothing compares to the pain He endured! There was not even one to help Him off the world’s stage. Why did He do this for me? He did not do it for power or gain. He already had that!

     There is even more to be learned from the nails and the Cross. With the grace (salvation) Jesus gave me, hanging there on the cross, He also gave me learning instructions. He is saying as He hangs on the Cross, “Believe in me”, and He is also saying, “Deny ungodliness and worldly desires. Live sensibly and righteously.”

     I find this in Titus 2”11-12, “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age.”

     To take this post one step further, Jesus sat on the throne. He did not have to come to earth to be persecuted, and killing Jesus was not to be. He arose to fight for me. With the calm command of His voice, Satan will flee.

Father's Day

As I think about Father's Day, I remember my Dad. I know he would have tried his best to do what was right for me. However, I can't help but think more about what my Heavenly Father did. He truly did what was best; He sent His only Son for me. His Son did what was right and what His Father wanted. He obeyed just as I should do, but in my fleshly nature I fail. I cannot help but think about what I would have done in the Son's situation.

What I Would Have Done

 I would have hidden and not done what was bidden.

They would have dragged me to the tree.

I would have kicked within the conflict,

Screamed in fear for all to hear,

Showed my grief before the thief,

Wailed and cried before I died.

I would not have forgiven the nails that were driven.

I would have denied guilt as my blood was spilt.

All within hearing would not have seen me persevering.

But,

Jesus did not hide,

Even knowing spears would pierce His side.

He was not dragged to the tree.

He did not plea.

He did not fight what was to be.

Though in agony at Calvary,

Upon that hill, He did His Father’s will.

He forgave before the grave,

And said as he bled,

“Father, forgive what they have done to Your Son.”
