An Intimate Fellowship

I strive to seek God first as it says in Psalm 63:1, “O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You. My flesh longs for You in a dry and weary land where there is no water.”

Seeking God’s Face…An Intimate Fellowship

Seeking God’s face does not happen over a weekend;

It takes a commitment, day by day,

To make Him your special friend.

The pursuit can be shallow-rooted

Or absorbed skin-deep where it cannot be looted.

His face can be found in any place you roam

Or just by resting with Him at home.

Paul sought God’s face from a prison cell.

He prayed; He witnessed-

From where he dwelled.

Jonah rebelled and delayed.

From an unhappy place,

He sought God’s face from the belly of a whale

Oh, what a story He had to tell!

Seeking God’s face cannot be hurried through;

It cannot be just a casual approach.

There is a cost to being made new.

It’s a lifetime ritual-

Not done in a moment or an hour to seek the spiritual.

O Lord, for You, my soul must thirst,

And I must seek Your face first;

In my time-in my prime-

Day by day- in every way;

Week by week I seek, year by year, to keep God near.

Early Morning

It gives me joy to write verse in the early morning after my devotionals. I feel a closeness to God as I strive to express His love. Below is the one I wrote this early, beautiful glorious day God has provided.

Early Morning

I awoke

As morning broke.

There was a hunger within.

Birds were chirping and life about to begin.

I took delight in my hunger;

Always there whether older or younger.

Only one thing would quinch the thirst upon my lips.

It was the Living Water at my fingertips!

Only One who could quiet the rumbling noise;

Only One to give day’s joys!

As morning broke,

My mind was filled as God spoke.

Tossing the sheets aside,

Hunger eased.

I was pleased!

There was peace, knowing God would be my guide;

No need for fear should I slide in day’s ride.

Hunger would be satisfied

With God walking by my side;

My thirst was stilled, yet ignited-

My thoughts excited!

With God, comes the morning-

A yearning in the dawning!

In the shadow of His wings

I rejoice in what day brings.

“O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is…Because thou hast been my help, therefore, in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.

Psalm 63:1,7

Hunger and Thirst

      Thinking and acting with positivity is always good, and life flows more smoothly when we steer away from the negative.  When we hunger and thirst  or have a longing, most would say those are negative, but in the case of a man's heart toward God, they are positive factors.  It is good to hunger and thirst for God's Word.  It is good to have a longing to seek God, giving Him our undivided attention.

Water to Quench the Thirst

     During the past weeks, it has been hard to find water and then when I do, I am limited to how much I can buy.  The one consolation I have is in knowing that I possess the One water which will quench my thirst.  I need not look for it, and it comes with no cost to me.  If I am truly thirsty and my throat is dry, I can look to the One who came, for me, to die. I look forward to the coming celebration of Jesus' mighty resurrection.

John 4:14 "But whosoever drinketh of the water I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life."

Bread of Life

Have you had your bread today?

     The Bread of Life

Wherefore cometh my satisfaction;
  my movement to action?
Wherefore cometh my contentment;
  my release from resentment?
Not from the love of man
  who walks this land;
Nor from riches or fame
  or triumphs to proclaim.
It cometh from the Bread of Life;
  from the Living Water;
Jesus Christ, the One who satisfies my hunger,
  my thirst,  though my heart is sad to burst.
It is He- the Fountain of Water;
The One, rarer by far;
The Spirit resting where heartbeats are.
The Spirit leading when sins would mar.
Wherefore cometh my joy and calm?
From faith that I am in His outreached palm.

John 6:36  "Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty."
