Home

 I have no idea why the parable of the Prodigal Son came to mind, but the following is what I put together:

Home

What happened with the prodigal son?

He left the place where he had grown,

wanting to go out on his own.

Along the way,

he squandered all he had,

was hungry and in need-

Then he longed for home.

In his day, he got lost along the way.

He longed to return to his Father.

In his wayward roam,

he longed for home.

Returning,

the prodigal son’s father met him with arms open wide.

He was over-joyed to welcome his son back home.

(That’s what it is like with God. He welcomes the repentance son, and He has a home prepared.)

Home

There is no place like home! Just yesterday, I heard a friend say, "I was so excited about going home."

Home!

There is no place like it;

The place I really fit.

No matter what road trip I’ve journeyed on

Whether to the ocean beach or even Rome,

There is no place like home!

All the exotic places, all the worldly spaces, all the different faces

Do not take the place of home, where I most desire to roam.

I’ve not traveled the world or seen the lives of foreigners unfurled.

I’m just not one to roam, much preferring home.

Home is where I hang my hat.

Home is where I like to sit.

Home is where it’s at.

And, although my home on earth will soon be gone,

I will, with joy, carry on.

I’ll fly away to a brand-new home made for me;

A place I’ll never wish to flee;

A place where I will be forever free;

A place where I will carefree walk;

A place where I will laugh, sing, and talk.

I’ll see the streets of gold;

There’ll be no more cold;

I’ll be made well and whole while surrounded by God’s shepherd fold.

This will be my Heavenly place, paid for by His grace.

Home!

God’s place is where I will roam;

Where I will hang my hat and sit,

And be joyful and content in “My Forever Home!”

What's In Your Belief?

Belief is our brain's way of making sense of things. Some in this world do not get the concept of anyone  who would come for the sole purpose of placing their self on an altar of sacrifice. However, for those who have chosen to believe in Jesus, there is more to it than simple belief. Once we take that step of belief it turns our whole life into a miracle. In John 3:16  we find, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believers in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." I describe only a few of the many wonderful, fulfilling miracles I receive by belief below.

What's In Your Belief?

Belief!
What’s in it for me?
Someone to shoulder my grief.
Peace in the soul;
A light that infects the whole.
God’s Word, a light to my feet.
Oh! How sweet!
Belief!
What’s in it for me?
Glee;
A life that’s free;
A Father forever-
His guarantee.
Forgiveness
And loving kindness;
A cleansing from sin;
The Spirit within.
Belief!
What’s in it for me?
A permanent home, set in gold
With no hot or cold.
A city with no need for moon or sun;
It’s illumined by The Son.
I have life eternal
With the Trinity, Three.
That’s what in it for me.
It never hurts to have belief;
It gives relief.
It provides mercy and grace,
Making for a happy place.

It's Easter

     When Jesus said, "It is finished!" as he hung there on the cross. He did not mean His job was done. He meant He had taken the sins of the world upon His shoulders. He had given His people freedom. He took my sin and your sin to give us life. That was crucifixion day!
     Now it's Easter. It's been 3 days since Jesus was laid in the grave. But, He's no longer there. His burial garments have been neatly folded indicating, "I''m not finished. I'm coming back." Jesus arose, but He's not gone. There's business to tend. There's the touch of His nail-scarred hands. some need to see and feel. There are instructions to leave, "Go and Tell!" There's a promise to leave, "I go to prepare a place for you. I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." Yet, another promise, "I will send you the Comforter from the Father. When He comes, He will give evidence about me. He is the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father."
     Thank you Jesus for dying for me. Thank you for the Comforter. Thank you for life everlasting and for preparing a special place for me to live with you eternally.  Thank you for freedom, friends, family, and the opportunity to serve and worship you while I am passing through this earth.

Adopted

      I often like to joke around. In doing so, I make misquotes for which I am sometimes repentant. I realized one such misquote this morning.  It was a while after I lost both my parents when I made the joking statement, "I am an orphan now." I pledge never to make that statement again, for when I was born again, saved by Jesus' grace, I was adopted into the family of God. I will always have a Father. I will always have a heavenly home assigned to me.  My Father is the One who keeps the entire universe functioning, and He is the Father who holds me in the palm of His hand, always watching over me and keeping me safe.  I will never be an orphan. I will never be alone.
