My Joy Comes

I had a rather hard-working afternoon yesterday for an old lady and was sure I would wake up this morning feeling sore and tired. I was tired but still joyful. No matter how old I get, I can still find joy. With humor, honor, and glory. I must say God is old too, even “older than dirt.” Why not? He created the dirt, the world, me, and all that is in it. He created life and the things that give us joy.

 My Joy Comes

My joy springs from the Lord.

He lives!

He reigns and gives and gives.

My joy comes from:

The breath-taking beauty at the onset of the sunset;

The colorful rainbow arch across the sky in which I spy;

Stars in the night-a zipper forming the big and little dipper.

The Lord shows He lives!

Always, He gives.

My joy comes from:

A fresh mowed lawn kept green with morning’s dewy dawn;

Merry songs from chirping birds although I know not their words;

The peace from an easy flowing river in which only God can deliver.

Joy is in my heart when I see:

A butterfly flapping its wings in the Spring;

Raindrops watering dried crops;

The voice of God, heard when my mind is confused and blurred.

My joy comes, and my heart hums.

I’m in awe of what God has done for me under the sun.

Yet,

Pleasures do not compare under the sun to what will be done

When I reach Heaven’s home where I will roam.

Until then, I delight in what He gives,

But, more so, because He lives!

“Let Israel rejoice in Him that made him; let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. Let them praise His name in the dance: let them sing praises unto Him with the timbrel and harp. For the Lord taketh pleasure in His people: He will beautify the meek with salvation.”  Psalm 149: 2-4 KJV

Praise God and His Son! He's not done!

I've written a few praise poems in the past because I need to praise God more often. In fact, I need to praise Him everyday. Because of Him, I exist. Because of Him, Jesus lives! Below is a praise I did this morning.

Praise!

I praise You God!

First, You planned and created me,

Knowing just how You’d set me free.

I praise You God for what You’ve done-

Loving me enough

To sacrifice Your Son.

God, You planned to give me merit

To give me worth,

And You sent me the Holy Spirit.

I praise You God for Your Son

And for what He’s done.

I praise You God because I live.

I praise You God because You forgive.

I praise You God, ‘cause Jesus lives!

I praise You today.

I will praise You through the days ahead.

I praise You God!

Because of me, Jesus’ blood was shed.

“I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes One who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” Matthew 3:11

Easter- Jesus Is Not Dead!

     He Lives! is a great song.  Jesus is truly a risen Saviour and He lives!  It would be good to remember this Easter Sunday that Jesus lives, but a person has to know Jesus to give Him the praise and the glory He so deserves.  I watched Watters' World last night on Fox News and was so saddened when Watters asked the people on the streets questions about Easter.
  Watters asked, "What Holiday is this?"  One answer was, "Memorial Day." Another was "Father's Day."
  Watters asked, "What are you doing this Easter?"  Answer was, "Do laundry, maybe."
  Watters asked, "What does Easter involve?"  There was no answer. She had no idea.
  Watters asked, "What happened on Easter?"  Answer was, "Not sure what happened."
  Watters asked, "What do we celebrate on Easter?"  Answer was, "Jesus was born."
  Watters asked several questions about the Easter bunny, and finally, "Was the Easter bunny found in the New or Old Testament?"  The answer was, "The Old Testament, I guess."
   Watters asked one person  a question about the crucifixion, and his answer was.  "He was crucified as the story goes, but I don't do that scene."

It would be good to remember the Cross, Death, and Resurrection. As the song goes:
"He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!"
"I serve a risen Saviour,
He's in the world today;
I know that He is living,
Whatever men may say;
I see His hand of mercy,
I hear His voice of cheer,
And just the time I need Him
He's always near."

     Jesus paid a great price when He came to earth to walk among men and then to allow himself to be beaten and nailed to a cross, and then to take on our sins so we also could live.

Jesus Is Not Dead

His wounds ran blood red!
Skin torn and pierced-
Body whipped-
Friends stood and wept in dread!
Darkness fell-
The ground shook-
Hanging on the cross, Jesus bled!
Hope sprang forth-
Promises fulfilled-
 Lying upon His death bed!
Angels stood nearby-
The stone rolled away-
Word spread!
“The tomb is empty!”
Hearts lifted-
 He arose the Living Bread!
Lives changed-
Brokenness healed-
In resurrection, Jesus became the Thread!
The Way-
The Deliverer-
He is not dead!
Souls are saved-
Eternal life proclaimed!
